According to Buhari Sallau, the event was graced by other members of the council, including Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Secretary to the Government of the Federation Boss Mustapha, Chief of Staff to the President, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari, and other FEC members.

Arase’s appointment comes at a time when the Nigerian police force is in dire need of reform. With rising insecurity and incidents of police brutality, the new chairman will have to work with other stakeholders to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the police force.

As a former Inspector-General of Police, Arase has a wealth of experience and expertise that he can bring to bear on the task ahead. He served as Nigeria’s police chief from April 2015 to June 2016, during which he implemented several reforms aimed at improving police professionalism and accountability.

Arase’s appointment is a clear indication of the government’s commitment to improving the Nigerian police force. It also sends a strong message to Nigerians that the government is taking the issue of insecurity seriously and is working to find a lasting solution to it.

In his inaugural speech, Arase thanked the president for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to work tirelessly to ensure that the Nigerian police force becomes a world-class organization that Nigerians can be proud of.

He also promised to work with other stakeholders, including civil society organizations and the media, to improve transparency and accountability in the police force. This, he said, would help to build trust between the police and the Nigerian people, which is crucial for effective policing.

In conclusion, the appointment of Solomon Arase as the new chairman of the Police Service Commission is a step in the right direction. It is hoped that he will use his wealth of experience and expertise to bring about the much-needed reforms in the Nigerian police force. The government must also provide him with the necessary support and resources to succeed in his task.
