In January 2019, I was redeployed to Bayelsa state hoping to stay in the capital but instead, I was given a Place of Permanent Assignment across the creeks which required me crossing a 15-20min ocean 🤣🤣. I was really scared because it was not something I’ve done before, I pleaded for the lady to change it, usually, I’ll have my way but this one was different the lady refused without even thinking twice😡.

Leaving the secretariat, I was cursing the lady in my left heart while my right heart was saying God let it be visible the reason why I have to cross this water. I called a friend of mine and asked if she knew any Corper in the Place of Permanent Assignment, I was posted to.

She quickly forwarded this guy’s number to me and we started chatting he was friendly and lively I was just happy, I had a lively person around so Place of Permanent Assignment won’t be so bad after all.

One week after, I arrived there we had covid 19 lockdown ahh baba God oshey🙌 I didn’t know God was giving us the opportunity to stay and study each other. We got along so well, communication 💯 I didn’t realize I was serving my husband and not my father’s land🤣.

Things got intentional and interesting and we vibe throughout the service year. I got a job offer in Uyo and left him, in my mind that was it but months later he called that he wants to visit me in Uyo 😳 I was feeling butterflies 🦋 in my stomach again.

Okeeey, let’s see how it goes we can make it work I thought. One thing was for sure, we were not making any life promises we were just taking one step at a time and we were on the same page.
That it’s okey if it breaks 😭
2021 oga left me for a greener pasture ewoo my heart LDR???

Oyaah naw we go chest am ‘I said’.
It wasn’t all rosy but we did it ❤️ 24 months later with one step at a time and no promises we are here TERI’23.
My patience and his endless efforts and hard work paid off✌️

Congratulations to the young couple, Mrs Otobong Ekans and Obadaseraye Terenceobj.
