Akparawa Michael Bush is the South-South Nigeria’s Media Mogul and Chief Executive Officer, Bush House Nigeria, he was born on August 13, 1971 in his home town, Ituk Mbang, Uruan Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. Surprisedly, today marks his 48th birthday, Bush moved to Cameroon with his parents at the age of three, where his dad worked as a fisherman and his mum, a petty trader, He spent almost 20 years of his early life in the central African country. He had both his primary and secondary education in a Government School situated there. He then, further his education in Foreign Languages where he obtain a B.A. degree in 1998. In 2008, he did his post graduate degree program in Journalism in the International School of Journalism. In 2016, he did a second post graduate program in culture administration and has been in broadcasting since 1992, that’s 27 years.
He worked as a freelancer for sometime and he later resigned in 2002. In 2003, Bush House Nigeria kick started. The Bush House Nigeria is the first independent produced program on Radio Nigeria – FRCN. It equally has a print arm – Newsdo’r Newspaper which runs circulation in Abuja, Uyo and Lagos. Bush House has also ventured into Real Estate and Oil & Gas. Bush stressed that ”he uses only one title, ”Akparawa” because he has two foreign names, and he wants people to know his origin.
Bush is married to a beautiful lady named Nneka, the marriage is blessed with a daughter Winnie, who’s a graduate as well, currently doing her post graduate degree program.
The 48 year-old journalist has been partially involved with the campaign right from inception, playing an advisory role in the non-profit organization. He offers himself to take up a more challenging role than others.
Currently, he serves as the host of ‘Akwa Ibom Calling’ on Comfort FM and he is also serving the government as well.
In an exclusive interview with Our Personality of the moment; he also stated that he has never been driven by money but passion. In his words, ”I’m a passion driven person, that’s why I can never be driven by money”. Bush also said that, ”Education is not everything neither is money, all you need is your passion, yourself and focus, you may have both and still fail in life but an illiterate may succeed even without the education”. He further said that ”Bush House Nigeria is the only media firm that’s run like a charity”
Bush narrated that the passion for media was ignited in an environment where there is no electricity and growing up there one can’t know that there are better places in the world. He said, ”I didn’t see a motorcar till I was 13”, till 18 he never saw a TV, electricity and other luxuries of life, what they had was just father’s four battery radio, which he insert a tape, presses the recording button and tries to run football complementary. When he plays the recorded tape back, he would say that he loves what he hears and he grows older he’ll get inside the box and be broadcasting and those words were strong enough to manifest in his today.
We crowned the interview with his advise for the young ones, he advised that ”one should follow his or her passion and must learn to help others to grow as they grow and in all you do, don’t be in a haste as well”.
