Wedding

I never really noticed him up until the first day that he started working in the protocol department in church says Comfort.

COMFORT UFOT, a native of Ikot Abasi in Akwa-Ibom State and DANIEL AKUMA, a native of Abiriba in Abia State shared their love story of how the met, the friend zoning, courtship and marriage.

“We first met in church (the evening church). He said he had been observing me for close to a year; more like keeping close tabs on me but, on my own part, I never really noticed him up until the first day that he started working in the protocol department in church. He was actually asked to put his phone away and, I just heard someone nicely and politely say, “comfort, please, can you help me keep my phone?” Honestly, I was taken aback. Like, I love polite people but, I was more wowed that he even knew my name so, yours truly had to be a nice Christian sister and help. After that encounter, we related on a normal level for some months. We were linked again by a job opportunity and, I had to get his number for the first time that night (after church service). Something happened afterwards that same night and, I became stranded. The only person I could think of calling was him and he arrived within minutes, got me and dropped me off at home. I was visibly disturbed and, he kept trying to find out if I was fine but, I was in no talking mood; I was just thankful to God that I was home peacefully. We progressed to being good friends and talked once in a while but, it was more on his part shaa (I was not looking for a man because of “man wahala”………#laughs). On 14th February 2019, he travelled to Port Harcourt for a business trip. I was so upset that he wasn’t going to be around to celebrate Valentine’s day with me but, I had no choice. I went out with my girlfriends to Monty Suite for a girls hangout but, I didn’t know that they had secretly made plans with him. While I was still out with the girls, I called him to know when he’d come back and, he said the meeting just ended around few minutes past 7pm (he knows I won’t kuku let him travel late na) so, he’ll have to sleep in Port Harcourt. I didn’t know that he was already in Uyo ooh; In fact, he was just outside Monty Suites. My mood was spoilt, my friends were just annoying me anyhow and, I almost left for home. Then, they said that we go upstairs to the poolside and, I was like, “for what, biko?” Before I could say jack, they all left me and, I had to follow them against my will. Now, we we’re upstairs………… Oya, order na; wahala! They were just goofing around and, the next thing I saw was that my dude showed up from the blues. I was like, “what kind of surprise is this and, what are you doing here?” While I was still trying to figure what to say next, he went down on one knee, brought out a ring from his pocket and asked me to marry him. I joyously said a big “yes” before he could finish the statement. He gently slide the ring into the middle finger of my left hand. And, months later we became husband and wife”.
